"Electricians Apprentice"

For my final project I want to create an audio/visual modulator loosely based on the theme of "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" from Fantasia. The Project will consist of three key aspects. First, A projection on the wall of some sort of visual. Second, the participant will be outfitted with the latest in sorcerer technology and fashion. The entire getup will consist of a hat, gloves and a magic wand (robe also a possibility). The third main aspect of the project is the motion tracking system. This system will work by combining two types of motion tracking devices to monitor the movements of the participant as accurately as possible.

The first motion tracking system will be a conventional image tracking system. Using the gloves I ask the person to wear, the camera will track their general position.

The second tracking system utilizes the wiimote in the form of the "magic wand". I will use the wiimote to track the very fine and the exagerated movements of the participant. i.e., waving hands back and forth, lifting them in the air very fast or dropping to the ground. Basically anything that the cameras 28 frames per second can not keep up with accurately.

All in all, I want to create an experience of total control over sound and imagery in a precise manner over the environment the person is interacting with. The audio will respond to their every movement and not be limited in range by preset function. I want all the controls to be infinite in nature. For example; instead of playing a preset sound when a motion is made, the persons exact position and gestural movement is what affects the modulation of the audio and video.

Projection through water droplets. Could add an interesting affect to the illusion of control for the participant.
